This weekend I took my first trip to the Midwest for a wedding in beautiful South Bend, Indiana, home of Notre Dame. Go Irish! We were stunned by the beauty of the grounds, which were founded in 1842 and include breathtaking sights like the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, and the picturesque St. Mary's Lake.
To bike around the 1300-acre campus, I chose these overalls, scored from A Current Affair's most recent pop-up in Brooklyn, with an off-the-shoulder crop top. I love the playful, oversized print and flared shape of these overalls. I can't wait to style them as pants with a cropped sweater and ankle boots for the fall.
For ease of pedaling and to keep my hands free, I chose my beat-up black Converse and this round crossbody bag, a recent favorite find from Urban Outfitters. I have been pairing it with everything from mod minis to jeans -- its retro vibe goes so well with many things in my closet.
In direct contrast to the love and joy we experienced at seeing two of our friends make their vows to each other were the events this weekend in Charlottesville -- a town we until very recently called home. I am deeply saddened by the unnecessary loss of life and outraged by this grotesque display of hatred toward fellow humans. Racism is not a political view and intimidation is not an acceptable form of protest. Thankful to all who risked their lives and personal safety to stand up for equality and what is right.
