So, what had happened was... I had just gotten these new red pants from Zara and was super excited to wear them. I paired them with a vintage bootleg Gucci tee and suddenly I was at a loss for what shoe to wear. Never one to shy away from a monochromatic 'fit, I threw on my trusty red patent leather ankle boots. And since I apparently have never heard the phrase less is more, I added a red teddy bear coat on top. And thus the unintentional Elmo look was born.
Though I loved it, I have to admit this look was extremely polarizing. Some of my officemates seemed to like it too, but others seemed absolutely confused why any sane person would choose to wear it. One friend even told me it was utterly unflattering. But what's the point of fashion if it does stir up a little debate every now and then, right?
Since this was the second time I'd be wearing this outfit, I pumped up the weird factor even more. Inspired by a photo of Elmo wearing sunglasses I found on the internet, I added some black micro shades -- all the rage this season -- and a fun ponytail that I copied from my girl MØ. Too much?
